Hydroponics

Technology

Our vertical farming technology is modular, scalable, and flexible, which allows us to grow and build on demand.

Nursery Growers

Adopting a hybrid approach to growing to produce high-quality plants for growing healthy, and organic produce.

M2M Learning and AI

Machine learning and artificial intelligence have evolved from academic concepts into the fundamental engines of a new era. They are the invisible force personalizing your world, predicting global markets, diagnosing diseases with superhuman accuracy, and unlocking discoveries in fields from quantum physics to art. This is not just a technological shift, it's a redefinition of what is possible, demanding not only innovation but profound ethical stewardship. The future is not just written in code; it is being learned, adapted, and shaped by the algorithms we create.

Research Facilities

Our state-of-the-art facilities are engineered with scientific support, working with the local universities for research and development of sustainable machine learning technologies as it relates to nutrients, light, water, and air quality.

A Blueprint for Resilience: The Hydroponic Advantage

Hydroponics transcends innovation, becomes an act of stewardship. This method delivers profound local benefits by working with our environment, not against it. We transform scarcity into abundance, creating a resilient, hyper-local food system that nourishes our community and safeguards our future.

Our Core Advantages:

  • Hydration: We champion water intelligence, using up to 90% less than traditional agriculture. In a region where every drop is precious, our closed-loop systems make conservation a cornerstone of cultivation.

  • Perpetual Harvest: Seasons no longer dictate our yield. Our controlled environments guarantee a constant, reliable supply of fresh produce, 365 days a year, liberating us from weather volatility and long-distance imports.

  • Vertical Density, Maximum Yield: We turn compact footprints into prolific food engines. Through vertical farming, we achieve astonishing yield per square foot, proving that abundance isn’t a question of acreage, but of innovation.

  • Purity by Design: Grown in a pristine, shielded environment, our crops simply don’t need toxic chemical pesticides. We deliver produce that is inherently cleaner and healthier, from root to harvest.

  • The Zero-Mile Journey: We erase food miles and their carbon footprint. Harvesting and delivering within our community means peak nutrition, unparalleled freshness, and a tangible step toward true sustainability.

  • Meeting Conscious Demand: We directly answer the growing call for transparent, local, and clean food. By aligning with conscious consumer values, we don’t just grow produce, we cultivate trust and ensure economic vitality.

This is more than farming; it’s a foundational shift towards self-reliance, ecological responsibility, and community health.

M2M Learning and AI

The fully closed-loop design, eliminating discharge to soil or waterways. It gives growers precise control over nutrient formulation and irrigation scheduling, while automatically logging real-time events and solution conditions for traceability and compliance.

With full automation, the system ensures consistent monitoring and stable nutrient quality. Precise metering captures the complete nutrient application history for each crop cycle, supporting data-driven decisions and auditability. Unlike conventional approaches, the Komodo Gardens platform delivers irrigation to plants located anywhere within the Growth Tower, improving operational efficiency and reducing labor risk.

Ebb-and-flow cycles are scheduled at the tower (GTL) level, with water volumes adjustable per cycle. Fertigation blends can be controlled centrally at the facility or localized at the individual tower, providing flexibility for both large-scale operations and targeted crop trials.

The numbers (hypothesis)

Energy consumption per tower: GT12-300 farm uses about 1,161 kWh per day, or roughly 34,830 kWh per month.

Water requirements

  • Initial nutrient solution: about 528.25 gallons total per tower.

  • Ongoing water: the HVAC system collects around 35,000 gallons of condensate per month, most of which is recycled, so the makeup water requirement is modest compared to traditional farming.

Costs vary by location, but the main components are:

    1. Labor: depends on staffing model and local rates

    2. Consumables: seeds, substrate, nutrients, etc.

    3. IGS Software Subscription (GTMS SaaS): about $17,280/year (~$1,440/month) per tower

    4. IGS Maintenance Service: about $45,000/year, which includes two annual site visits and 24-hour support

    5. Energy: depends on local rates. For example, at $0.12/kWh, the monthly bill would be about $4,175.

There’s a number of other expenses to consider and a full Komodo Gardens Grow Model will give the most accurate OPEX breakdown.

Construction costs: Komodo Gardens supplies, installs, and commissions the towers. The superstructure and foundation (building, slab, etc.) are the customer’s responsibility providing detailed specifications and design support to ensure a proper fit, but costs vary widely by region.

Terraces for honey bees: Terraces would need to be designed into the building by your architect. It’s a creative idea and we can share thoughts on how bees could support a pollination step, but design and costing sit outside our scope.

Rooftop atmospheric water extractors: Good idea and it should work; however, the building uses SIP cladding with a steel frame and mezzanine and roof load capacity depends on site-specific engineering. We don’t have standard ratings, but we’ll provide specifications for the superstructure and coordinate with your structural engineer to verify if AWE units can be supported.

Tour channel inside the facility: Another great idea and we do have some customers planning to include tour pathways to allow visitors without affecting operations or biosecurity. This is handled by third-party designers, but we can advise on placement.

Atrium with restaurant and coffee shop: Strongly encouraged. Many customers look to integrate test kitchens and hospitality spaces so visitors can experience produce first-hand and host events. This requires a specialist design firm, but we support the concept.
